Sorry, SOLD (MAy, 2020) ———- Maurice Delannoy was born on March 11, 1885 in Paris. He studied at the ?cole Germain Pilon under Charles Valton and Jules ?douard Roin?. He became a professor of drawing and worked as a medallisst and sculptor. He designed coins for Morocco, Monaco and Lebanon, and a considerable number of medals. Delannoy was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d’Honneur in 1947. He died in Paris on April 26, 1972,

Sorry, SOLD (December, 2020) ———— Louis Oscar Roty was born at Paris on June 11, 1846. He initially studied painting at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts under Lecoq and Boisbaudran. It is reported that he lost the money for a paint box and subsequently enrolled in a life-drawing class and thence into sculpting. This trajectory would eventually lead to his career as the most celebrated medallist of his time. Along the way, he studied in the atelier of the statuary Augustin Dumont and under Ponscarme, Chapu and Chaplain. He won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1875. Roty spent three years in Rome, where he modeled a number of waxes. In 1888 he was elected to the Acad?mie des Beaux-Arts. He took the grand prize at the International Exposition in 1889. Roty was a commander of the L?gion d?Honneur. He was responsible for reintroducing the plaquette, an art form that had been neglected since the Renaissance. His ?Semeuse? (sower) was widely used on French coins and stamps. He died in Paris on March 23, 1911.

Cased. $125. Sorry, SOLD (January, 2020) ——– Edmond Henri Becker was born in Paris on July 20 1871. He studied under Valton. He worked as a medallist, sculptor and goldsmith, exhibiting at the Salons des Artistes Fran?ais and des Arts D?coratifs from 1892 until 1951. Becker died, aged 100, at Nogent-sur-Marne on November 2 1971. He initially created works in the art nouveau style and later in the art deco style.

Georges Guiraud was born at Toulouse on August 5 1901. He was the son of Albert Guiraud, who was a painter and illuminator of documents. Guiraud studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Toulouse and later at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He worked in the workshop of Jean Boucher. Guiraud won the First Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1926. He died at Saint-Hilaire-au-Temple (Marne) on May 12 1989.

He studied at the Schools for Decorative Art in Prague and Vienna. He was active in France from 1889 to 1914. Kautsch created objects of art for the Pope and several royal families.
