He initially worked under his father, a marble worker, but later moved to Paris, where he studied under the sculptors Alexandre Falgui?re and Claude Antoine Merci?. He became a regular exhibitor at the Salon of the Soci?t? des Artistes Fran?ais. He produced several war memorials following World War I and is noted, among medal collectors, for his medals related to World War I. Morlon designed an effigy of Marianne in a Phrygian cap, which was used on the fifty centime, one franc and two-franc coins from 1931 until 1959. He also designed coins for Uruguay. He was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur in 1927. He died at Houdan on February 24, 1951.

Bronze plaquette 47mm x 59mm. $90. ———– Pierre Turin was born in Sucy-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne) on 3 August 1891. He trained as a steel engraver and became a student at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Auguste Jules Patey and Fr?deric-Charles Victor de Vernon. He participated several times in the competition for the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving, receiving a deuxi?me second Grand Prix in 1914, a premier second Grand Prix in 1919 and finally winning the competition in 1920. He had a distinguished career as a medalist and designer of coins. He is noted for his many works with a bold, Art Deco style, in particular the prize medal from the 1925 Exposition Internationale Des Arts Decoratifs Et Industriels Moderns in Paris. In 1938 he was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur. Turin died on July 25 1968 in Sucy-en-Brie, where he had been born.
