Guiraud studied at the ?cole des Beaux Arts in Toulouse and later at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He worked in the workshop of Jean Boucher. Guiraud won the First Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1926. He died at Saint-Hilaire-au-Temple (Marne) on May 12 1989.

Josette Hébert-Coëffin (1908-1973), sculptor and medallist, was a student at the École des Beaux-Arts de Rouen, where she won a first prize for sculpture and architecture. She was a student of Wlérick, Despiau and Gensoli. She won a gold medal at the International Exposition of 1937. She was a sociétaie of the Salon d’Automne, a member of the Academy of Rouen, Officier de la Légion d’Honneur, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres. She created many medals and is also noted for her religious statues.

Andr? Henri Lavrillier was born on 7 May 1885 in Paris. He studied under his father, Charles, an engraver, and later under Chaplain and Bourdelle at the ?cole des Beaux Arts. He won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1914. He was later made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Besides medals, he designed a number of coins, including the 1933 5-franc coin and coins for Romania.

Hippolyte Lef?bvre, sculptor and medallist was born in Lille in 1863. He studied at the Acad?mie des Beaux-Arts in Lille, where he won first prizes in drawing and sculpture. He later entered the ?cole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he won numerous prizes. He exhibited at the Salon and won the Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture in 1892. At the 1900 Universal Exposition, he won gold medals for medals that he exhibited. Lef?bvre died in 1935.

Kautsch created objects of art for the Pope and several royal families. He won many awards including several foreign orders. He died in Vienna in 1914. In 1888 he became a soci?taire des Artistes Fran?cais and was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honner in 1895. He won a silver medal at the Universal Expostion in 1900. Mouchon designed several postage stamps and banknotes. He died at Montrouge on 3 March 1914.

Sorry, SOLD (May, 2023) ——- Camille Lef?vre (also Lef?bvre) was born at Issy-sur-Seine on December 31, 1853. He began his career as an apprentice in wood sculpting. He then entered the ?cole des Arts Decoratifs followed by the ?cole des Beaux Arts. In 1878 he won the second Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture. He began exhibiting in the Salon in the following year, where he won a third class medal in 1884. He was a founding member of the Soci?t? Nationale des Beaux Arts. Lef?vre died in Paris on May 23, 1933. After his death, his widow bequeathed his collection and works from his studio to the museums of Belfort.

1907, France. Medicine. PROFESSOR PAUL BERGER. By Jules-Clément Chaplain (1839-1909). Bronze 68mm. $125.

Alexandre-Louis-Marie Charpentier, medalist, sculptor and craftsman was born in Paris in 1856. He initially trained as a jeweler, then worked under a medallist. This led him to entering L??cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts, where he studied medal engraving from 1871 ? 1876 in the studio of Hubert Ponscarme. Charpentier first exhibited at the Salon in 1877 with a portrait medallion of his mother and in 1879 exhibited ?Tireur d?Arc,? a bas-relief, which was purchased by Alexandre Dumas. He with Ponscarme, Louis-Oscar Roty and others was responsible for the resurgence of medallic art in France in the late 19th century. Charpentier died at Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1909.
