Sorry, SOLD (April, 2020) ———– Fr?d?ric Auguste Bartholdi was born on August 2nd, 1834 at Colmar. His father died when Bartholdi was only two. His mother moved to Paris where she enrolled him in Le Lyc?e Louis-le-Grand and as a student in the workshops of the sculptor Antoine ?tex and the painter Ary Scheffer. In 1855 and 1856 he traveled in Egypt, where he was inspired by the monumental sculptures. During the Franco-German War of 1870, he served as aide-de-camp to General Giuseppe Garibaldi. His best known work is The Statue of Liberty (La Libert? ?clairant le Monde ? Liberty Enlightening the World). His other best known work is the Lion of Belfort. Bartholdi died in Paris on October 4, 1904.

Albert De Jaeger was born in 1908. He won first prizes at l’École des Beaux Arts de Roubaix et Tourcoing and at l’École des Arts Decoratifs at Paris. He studied under Niclausse, Bouchard, Despiau and Dropsy. In 1935 he won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in medal engraving. He worked as a sculptor, metal smith and medallist. De Jaeger won many distinctions. He died in 1992.

He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais, where he received an honorable mention in 1888 and a second class medal in 1908. He died at Gentilly (Seine) on November 8 1925

She was accepted into the l’École Nationale Supérieur des Beaux-Arts at Paris, where she studied engraving under Patey and Dammann and sculpture under Sicard and Bouchard. She won the first Grand Prix de Rome in 1929. Guzman-Nagotte died in 1978.
