Gabriel Jules Thomas, painter and sculptor, was born in Paris on September 10 1824. He studied under Ramey and Dumont and began exhibiting at the Salon in 1851. He won two first class medals at the International Exhibitions of 1867 and 1878. Thomas died in Paris on March 8 1905.
