He won a gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1923. Herbemont was a founding member of the Soci?t? Fran?ais des Amis de la M?daille. Herbemont died in 1953.

Sorry, SOLD (January, 2021) ———— Robert Cochet was born in 1903. He studied at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was a student collaborator with Carli and Lucien Bazor. He was a soci?taire of the Salon des artistes Fran?ais. In 1954 he won a diploma and medal that international exposition in Madrid.

France. ALPHONSE-MARIE-LOUIS DE PRAT DE LAMARTINE (1790-1869), POET AND STATESMAN. By David D?Angers. Later, uniface, hollow-cast bronze 127mm. Reinis 259. $275. Sorry, SOLD (October, 2024) ———– Pierre-Jean David, known as David d?Angers, was born at Angers on March 12 1788. His father was a sculptor. David studied under Marchand and Jean-Jacques Delusse at l??cole centrale d?Angers between 1806 and 1807. In 1811 he won the Grand Prix de Rome for a bas relief of ?Mort d??paminondas.? After his stay in Rome, he traveled through France to London, where he met Flaxman and worked with him on a monument to the Duke of Wellington. He returned to France in 1818 He quickly established his reputation and was made a chevalier de la L?gion d’honneur in 1825 and was elected as a member of l?Institut de France in the following year. He served as a professor at l??cole des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He is celebrated for many sculptures, but especially for his extensive series of portrait medallions. David died in Paris on January 6 1856.

He studied at the ?cole Germain Pilon under Charles Valton and Jules ?douard Roin?. He became a professor of drawing and worked as a medallisst and sculptor. He designed coins for Morocco, Monaco and Lebanon, and a considerable number of medals. Delannoy was made a
Chevalier de la L?gion d’Honneur in 1947. He died in Paris on April 26, 1972.

Sorry, SOLD (January, 2024) ———- Henry Dropsy was born in Paris on January 21, 1885, into a family of sculptors. He learned his craft under his father Jean-Baptiste ?mile Dropsy. He later studied at l??cole Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts. He was a professor of medal engraving at the school for many years. Dropsy became a member of the Institut in 1942 and a member of the Commission Administrative and of the Commission du Dictionaire. He created many medals. A large collection of his work is held at the Monnaie de Paris, which put on a special exhibition of his medals in 1964, the catalogue for which remains a standard reference. His earliest works are in the art nouveau style. His style evolved considerably over his long career. Dropsy died at Veneux-Les-Sablon on November 2, 1969.

Sorry, SOLD ——— Louis-Alexandre Bott?e (1852-1941) was born in Paris. At the age of 13 he was apprenticed to a button-making manufactory, where he was responsible for engraving dies. He later studied at the ?cole des Art D?coratifs. In 1869 he joined the atelier of Paulin Tasset and in 1871 he joined the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts. He won the Premiere Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1878 and a gold medal at the Salon of 1900. In 1903 he was made an Officier de la L?gion d?Honneur.
