He was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur in 1924.

Raymond Persin was born at Carvin on December 21 1870. He studied and practiced law and made a name for himself by defending a female singer, who refused to wear a bathing suit in a production of Faust. He also studied art, most notably under sculptor Auguste Carli. He became a member of La Soci?t? Des Artistes Fran?ais. He exhibited medals at the Salon de Paris from 1909 to 1924, receiving an honorable mention in 1920. Persin died in Paris on June 28 1934.

He studied under Henri-Michel-Antoine Chapu and Jules-Cl?ment Chaplain. He won the premier Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1890. He became a soci?taire des Artistes Fran?ais in 1898. In 1900 he won a silver medal at the Universal Exposition. Pillet was made a chevalier of the L?gion d’Honneur in 1911. He won the Salon?s medal of honor in 1923. Pillet died in 1960.

He later studied at l’École Supérieure des Beaux Arts. He was a professor of medal engraving at the school for many years. Dropsy became a member of the Institut in 1942 and a member of the Commission Administrative and of the Commission du Dictionaire. He created many medals. A large collection of his work is held at the Monnaie de Paris, which put on a special exhibition of his medals in 1964, the catalogue for which remains a standard reference. His earliest works are in the art nouveau style. His style evolved considerably over his long career. Dropsy died at Veneux-Les-Sablon on November 2, 1969.
