Sorry, SOLD (August, 2022) ———– Raoul B?nard was born on 30 September 1881. He studied under the sculptor Coutan and the medallists Chaplain and Vernon. In 1911 he won the Prix de Rome for medal engraving and, in 1922, a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais, followed by a gold medal two years later. He was later made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. B?nard died in 1961.

Jacques Wiener, whose given name was Jacob, was born on March 2, 1815, at Hoerstgen (Rhine Province) to Hungarian parents. He seems to have started using Jacques as his name when he moved to Belgium. At the age of 13 he went to live with his uncle Baruth, an artist, and studied drawing, modelling and engraving. In 1835 he moved to Paris to perfect his skills and in 1839 moved to Brussels, where he established himself as an engraver. He became a naturalized Belgian in 1845. He created an extensive body of medals and is best known for his finely detailed architectural medals, especially his series of Most Remarkable Edifices. He is also widely known for engraving the first Belgian postage stamp. Wiener died in Brussels in 1899.

He studied under Ponscarme, Chaplain and Charpentier at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited for the first time in 1901 at the Salon of the Soci?t? des Artistes Fran?ais, where he later won a gold medal and became a member of the Committee. He also exhibited at the Salon des Ind?pendents and the Salon d?Automne. He created several monumental works and created the cup awarded by the International Football Federation. Lafleur died in 1953.

An artist of great talent, he is credited with the introduction of the Renaissance medal. He regarded himself foremost as a painter, signing his medals as such (e.g. Opus Pisani Pictoris [The work of Pisanello the painter]). Although many artists began creating medals soon after Pisanello introduced this new medium, his medals are generally regarded as the finest of the period.

He studied under Barre and Duret as well as his father Eug?ne Dubois. In 1855 he won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving. He exhibited at the salon in 1868 and 1869. He was a jury member at the Universal Exposition of 1900. Dubois was made a chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur.

Louis Muller was born on February 22 1902 at Vénissieux into a family of modest means. He started to work with metals at the age of 13. He was apprenticed to various jewelers and silversmiths in Lyon. After completing his national service in 1923 he entered the atelier of sculptor Jean-Baptiste Larrivé at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. He later moved to Paris where he studied under Sculpture under Henri Bouchard and medal engraving under Henry Dropsy and Aguste Patey. Muller also studied at the private academy established by André Lavrillier. In 1929 he won the second prix de Rome in medal engraving and in 1932 won the premier prix de Rome. Muller worked for the Monnaie de Paris and for various private makers of medals. He died at Antony in 1957.
