François Maurice Thénot was born in 1893. He studied under Patey. He exhibited in the Salon des Artistes and won a bronze medal in 1927 and a silver medal in 1936. His medallic works include a fine series of plaquettes and medals depicting African animals. Thénot died in 1963.

In 1888 he became a soci?taire des Artistes Fran?cais and was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honner in 1895. He won a silver medal at the Universal Expostion in 1900. Mouchon designed several postage stamps and banknotes. He died at Montrouge on 3 March 1914.
