He won a second class medal at the salon in 1880, a second class medal in 1890, and a first class medal in 1893. He was made a chevalier de la L?gion d’Honneur in 1906. Borrel died in 1927.

He spent five years in Paris and later moved to Munich, where he settled in 1904. Goetz was a prolific medallist, most noted for his satirical works, especially those of World War I. Goetz died in 1950.
