France.ZEUS. By Andr? Pierre Schwab (1883-1969). Galvano 192mm. From the archives of the Delande Company in France. $300. This is a “studio model,” from the Delande company archives, the main purpose of which would have been to serve as a model from which dies would have been made using a reducing machine. Only a very limited number of studio models would have been made with just a few being sold, disseminated or used for special purposes. In some cases, only one “master” studio model would have been created solely for use in the process of die-making. (Delande et Cie. of Paris was a company that manufactured and distributed medals, decorations, flags, and trophies. In was founded in the late 19th century and closed its doors in the 1980s. It had customers throughout the world and produced military decorations and uniform ornamentations for several governments). ————– Andr? Pierre Schwab was born at Nancy on August 6, 1883. He was a student of Merci?, Chaplain, Vernon. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais beginning in 1905 and won a gold medal in 1926.Schwab died in 1969.

Sorry, SOLD (October, 2021) ————— Jules ?douard Roin? was born in Nantes on October 24, 1857. He studied under the reknown sculptor L?opold Morice. He travelled to America in 1881, where he remained until he returned to France in 1898. While in France he may have studied under the medallists Oscar Roty and Fr?d?ric de Vernon. Roin? returned to America. As a result of receiving more commissions than he could manage on his own, he formed a partnership with Felix Weil in 1908. They earned a reputation for creating bas-reliefs, galvano designs and medals.. In 1915 he developed kidney disease and which interfered with his ability to work. He decided to return to France, where he died on April 11 1916. Roin??s gained a repuation and many accolades on both sides of the Altanic. His medallic portrait of Abraham Lincoln is regarded by many as the finest medallic portrait of Lincoln

After Roin??s final departure back to France, Weil attempted to keep the business going on his own,. The workload however was greater than he could manage, so his brother, Henri, joined him in establishing the Medalic Art Company, which would become the leading producer of medallic art in America. —————— Delande et Cie. of Paris was a company that manufactured and distributed medals, decorations, flags, and trophies. 1918, France. BRIMONT NOGENT REIMS. By Henry Dropsy (1885-1969). Pair of uniface studio casts 155mm. $625. ———– Henry Dropsy was born in Paris on January 21, 1885, into a family of sculptors. He learned his craft under his father Jean-Baptiste ?mile Dropsy. He later studied at l??cole Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts. He was a professor of medal engraving at the school for many years. Dropsy became a member of the Institut in 1942 and a member of the Commission Administrative and of the Commission du Dictionaire. He created many medals. A large collection of his work is held at the Monnaie de Paris, which put on a special exhibition of his medals in 1964, the catalogue for which remains a standard reference. His earliest works are in the art nouveau style. His style evolved considerably over his long career. Dropsy died at Veneux-Les-Sablon on November 2, 1969.

He studied at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where specialized in designing medals coins and small bronzes under Auguste Carli and Lucien Bazor and. He began exhibiting at the Salon des artistes Fran?ais in 1929 and was made a member. In 1954 he won a diploma and medal at the international exposition in Madrid. Cochet died at Moulins on July 26 1988.

He was a student at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts, where he studied engraving under Alph?e Dubois and sculpture under Falgui?re. He exhibited at the salon beginning in 1894. He won an honorable mention in 1901 and a third class medal in 1904. In 1905 be became a Soci?taire des Artistes Fran?ais and a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Prud?homme died in 1947.? ?
