France. LOUIS BOURDALOUE, (1632-1704), Jesuit Preacher. By Pierre Turin. Bronze 68mm. $90. ————— Pierre Turin was born in Sucy-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne) on 3 August 1891. He trained as a steel engraver and became a student at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Auguste Jules Patey and Fr?deric-Charles Victor de Vernon. He participated several times in the competition for the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving, receiving a deuxi?me second Grand Prix in 1914, a premier second Grand Prix in 1919 and finally winning the competition in 1920. He had a distinguished career as a medalist and designer of coins. He is noted for his many works with a bold, Art Deco style, in particular the prize medal from the 1925 Exposition Internationale Des Arts Decoratifs Et Industriels Moderns in Paris. In 1938 he was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur. Turin died on July 25 1968 in Sucy-en-Brie, where he had been born.

She was a soci?taie of the Salon d?Automne, a member of the Academy of Rouen, Officier de la L?gion d?Honneur, Chevalier de l?Ordre des Arts et Lettres. She created many medals and is also noted for her religious statues

He later entered the ?cole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he won numerous prizes. He exhibited at the Salon and won the Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture in 1892. Lef?bvre won gold medals for medals that he exhibited at the 1900 Universal Exposition.

He studied under Auguste Patey at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts. He won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1923. Bazor succeeded Patey in the post of Engraver General at the Paris Mint, a post he held until 1958. He died in 1974.
