He was taught by his uncle, Eug?ne Cartier, who became his guardian after the death of his father in 1916 At the age of 15, he was admitted to the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais and continued to exhibit there annually until 1940. He created works in various media, but specialized in wildlife painting sculpture. He was appointed Secretary of the Artistes Animaliers in 1929. He disliked cities and established himself at Clamart, where he died in his home on October 17, 2001.

He won many awards and was a regular exhibitor at the Salon d?Automne. Descomps was made a chevalier of la L?gion d?Honneur. He died in Paris on April 24, 1950.

Sorry, SOLD (July, 2022) ———- L?on-Claude Mascaux was born in Saine-Germain-en-Lay (Yvelines) on June 13 1882, He studied under the sculptors Landowski and Bouchard. He first exhibited at the Salon of the Soci?t? des Beaux Arts in 1921. In 1924 he won a medal in the artistic comptetion of the Olumpic Games. In the following year he won a Grand Prix at the Exposition des Arts D?oratifs et Industriels Moderns for a series seven sports-themed medals. Unlike his contemporaries, he eschewed the reducing machine and cut his models directly into the plaster in the actual size of his intended medals. His medals typically reflect a strong Art Deco style. Mascaux died at Fontainebleau on March 8 1965.

1960, France. SPORTS PRIZE. By Louis Muller (1902-1957, Grand Prix de Rome in 1932). Bronze 70mm. $75. ———– Louis Muller was born on February 22 1902 at V?nissieux into a family of modest means. He started to work with metals at the age of 13. He was apprenticed to various jewelers and silversmiths in Lyon. After completing his national service in 1923 he entered the atelier of sculptor Jean-Baptiste Larriv? at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. He later moved to Paris where he studied under Sculpture under Henri Bouchard and medal engraving under Henry Dropsy and Aguste Patey. Muller also studied at the private academy established by Andr? Lavrillier. In 1929 he won the second prix de Rome in medal engraving and in 1932 won the premier prix de Rome. Muller worked for the Monnaie de Paris and for various private makers of medals. He died at Antony in 1957.

(Val-de-Marne) in 1869. He studied under the sculptor, Henri-Michel-Antoine Chapu. Starting in 1887 he exhibited at the Salon of the Soci?t? des Artistes Fran?ais. He won a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition in 1900. In 1907 he was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. He was interested in and wrote about art theory. Nocq created medals, plaquettes, sculpture and many artistically designed everyday objects. He died in 1944.
