Philip Nathan (1941) is a sculptor, medallist, and coin designer. He trained at Guildford School of Art, 1957-62, where he specialized in carving and terracotta modelling, then at the Royal Academy Schools, where he won the silver medal for sculpture. He joined the Royal Society of Sculptors in 1966. Between 1965 and 1968 he worked as an engraver at the Royal Mint.  as engraver and designer, then for the Franklin Mint until 1973. He currently lives in Dorset, England.

Albert De Jaeger was born on October 28, 1908 in Roubaix. He won a first prize at l’École des Beaux-Arts de Roubaix et de Tourcoing. He later studies at l’École National des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. He was a student of Bouchard, Dropsy and Despiau. In 1935 he won the Grand Prix de Rome in medal engraving. He won accolades during his distinguished career. De Jaeger died on May 19, 1992.

Dropsy: JOSEPH PERES, Mathematician.

Henry Dropsy was born in Paris on January 21, 1885, into a family of sculptors.  He learned his craft under his father Jean-Baptiste Émile Dropsy. He later studied at l’École Supérieure des Beaux Arts. He was a professor of medal engraving at the school for many years. Dropsy became a member of the Institut in 1942 and a member of the Commission Administrative and of the Commission du Dictionaire. He created many medals. A large collection of his work is held at the Monnaie de Paris, which put on a special exhibition of his medals in 1964, the catalogue for which remains a standard reference. His earliest works are in the art nouveau style. His style evolved considerably over his long career. Dropsy died at Veneux-Les-Sablon on November 2, 1969.

He was the son of Albert Guiraud, who was a painter and illuminator of documents. Guiraud studied at the ?cole des Beaux Arts in Toulouse and later at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He worked in the workshop of Jean Boucher. Guiraud won the First Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1926. He died at Saint-Hilaire-au-Temple (Marne) on May 12 1989.

Sorry, SOLD (September, 2023)————- Jean ?mile Louis de Vernon (known as Jean Vernon) was the son of medallist and sculptor Fr?d?ric-Charles Victor de Vernon. He was born in Paris on April 1, 1897. Vernon studied at the ?cole des Arts D?coratifs and at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, under Jules Coutan and Hippolyte Jules Lef?bvre. He first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1922 and won a silver medal in 1924 and a gold medal in 1936. Vernon worked primarily as a sculptor, but created medals, including his famous series of medals depicting scenes from Jean de la Fontaine’s Fables. He died in Paris on September 9, 1975.

In 1900 he won a silver medal at the Universal Exposition. Pillet was made a chevalier of the L?gion d’Honneur in 1911. He won the Salon?s medal of honor in 1923. Pillet died in 1960.
