In 1911 he won the Prix de Rome and. in 1922, a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais, followed by a gold medal two years later. He was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Benard died in 1961.

Jean-Baptiste Daniel-Dupuis, French painter, sculptor and medallist, was born in 1849. At the age of seventeen he entered l??cole Nationale Sup?rieur des Beaux-Arts. In 1868 he won second Prix de Rome for medal engraving and the first Grand Prix de Rome in 1872. He exhibited regularly at the Salon. He was made an officer of the L?gion d?Honneur in 1898. Daniel-Dupuis died tragically in 1899. He was shot in his sleep by his wife, who had a history of mental illness. His wife then turned the gun on herself and committed suicide.? Daniel-Dupuis created an extensive body of medallic works.

From Thénot’s series of plaquettes of African animals: Antilopes Impala, Antelopes Koudou, Buffle de Cafrerie, Combat d’Antilopes, Éléphant Solitaire, Girafes, Léopard, Lion et Lionne, Python, Rhinocéros.

François Maurice Thénot was born in 1893. He studied under Patey. He exhibited in the Salon des Artistes and won a bronze medal in 1927 and a silver medal in 1936. His medallic works include a fine series of plaquettes and medals depicting African animals. Thénot died in 1963.

He was a student of Jean Boucher and Charles Despiau. He won a gold medal at the International Exposition in Paris in 1937 and at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1939. Gibert was made an officer of la L?gion d?Honneur. He created over 200 medals.

He was a student at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts, where he studied under Jules Cavelier, Hubert Ponscarme and Oscar Roty. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais, where he received an honorable mention in 1888 and a second-class medal in 1908. He died at Gentilly (Seine) on November 8 1925

Raymond Tschudin (1916-?) was the son of a medalist and came early to his profession. He studied under Henry Dropsy at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1945.

Extremely fine. $90 ———- Henry (Henri-Eug?ne) Nocq was born in Saint-Mand? (Val-de-Marne) in 1869. He studied under the sculptor, Henri-Michel-Antoine Chapu. Starting in 1887 he exhibited at the Salon of the Soci?t? des Artistes Fran?ais. He won a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition in 1900. In 1907 he was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. He was interested in and wrote about art theory. Nocq created medals, plaquettes, sculpture and many artistically designed everyday objects. He died in 1944.

Henry Dropsy was born into a family of sculptors in 1885. He learned his craft under his father Jean-Baptiste ?mile Dropsy. He later studied at l??cole Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts. He was a professor of medal engraving at the school for many years. He became a member of the Institut in 1942 and a member of the Commission Administrative and of the Commission du Dictionaire. Dropsy died in 1969.
