Henri Lavrillier was born on 7 May 1885 in Paris. He studied under his father, Charles, an engraver, and later under Chaplain and Bourdelle at the ?cole des Beaux Arts. He won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1914. He was later made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Besides medals, he designed a number of coins, including the 1933 5 franc coin and coins for Romania.

He was admitted to the Soci?t? des artistes fran?ais and exhibited at the Salon des artistes fran?ais, where he won a gold medal in 1937. He was made a chevalier of the Legion d’Honneur in 1929. Fraisse died in Paris on September 13 1945
