Sorry, SOLD (April, 2020). ———- Pierre-Marie Poisson was born on 19 November 1876 in Niort (Deux-S?vres). He studied at the ?cole des Beaux Arts in Toulouse and later moved to Paris to study sculpture. He received a scholarship for the Villa Abd-el-Tif in Algeria in 1908. He worked primarily as a sculptor and only turned to creating medals later in his career.

France. SAINT MICHEL. By Pierre Turin. Octagonal bronze 55mm. OBVERSE: Saint Michael slaying a monster. REVERSE: A circular compartment set against a cross and scales. Cat. Gen. vol. 382/A. $125.————— Pierre Turin was born in Sucy-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne) on 3 August 1891. He trained as a steel engraver and became a student at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Auguste Jules Patey and Fr?deric-Charles Victor de Vernon. He participated several times in the competition for the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving, receiving a deuxi?me second Grand Prix in 1914, a premier second Grand Prix in 1919 and finally winning the competition in 1920. He had a distinguished career as a medalist and designer of coins. He is noted for his many works with a bold, Art Deco style, in particular the prize medal from the 1925 Exposition Internationale Des Arts Decoratifs Et Industriels Moderns in Paris. In 1938 he was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur. Turin died on July 25 1968 in Sucy-en-Brie, where he had been born.

Sorry, SOLD (March, 2020) ——- Anie Mouroux, sculptor and medalist was born at Paris in 1887. She studied at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. She was the first female contender for the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving. She won the Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1919. Mouroux won a gold medal at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts and a silver medal at the Salon de Artistes Fran?ais. She died in 1978.
