He won the Prix de la Ville de Bordeaux at the age of twenty. He moved to Paris and studied at the ?cole des Beaux Arts. Be became a professor at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts, a member of La Soci?t? Nationale des Beaux-Arts and of the Salon d?Automne. He created numerous medals and sculpture in carved wood and other materials.

ARMAND AUGUSTE CAQU? was born at Saintes in 1793. He studied at the Royal School at Rocefort, at the ?cole d?Application at Metz and under Raymond Gayrard. He was the first French medallist to make extensive use of the reducing machine. He is best known for his series of 74 medals in his Galerie Numismatique des Rois de France. He held the post of Engraver to the Imperial Cabinet from 1853 to 1868, Caqu? died in Paris in 1881.

Henri Dubois, was the son of noted sculptor and medallist, Alph?e Dubois and grandson of Eug?ne Dubois. He was born in 1859. He studied under his father, Chapu and Falgui?re. He won the second Grand Prix de Rome in 1878 and in 1883 became a Soci?taire des Artiste Fran?ais. In 1900 he won a silver medal at the Universal Exposition. In 1903 he was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Dubois died in 1930.
