Sorry, SOLD Pierre Dautel, French sculptor and medallist was born at Valenciennes in 1873. He studied sculpture and architecture at the ?cole Acad?miques at Valenciennes and later studied sculpture at the ?cole Nationale et Sp?ciale des Beaux Arts at Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Dubois. He won various awards during his distinguished career and was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur in 1929. Dautel died in 1954

He studied art over the objections of his parents. He was a pupil of S?bastien Cornu, Devaulx and Falgui?re. He exhibited at the Salon and won a medal in 1879. He won a gold medal at the Universal Exposition of 1900. He was an artist who worked in various media. As a medallist, Peter is best known for his depictions of animals. He became professor of sculpture at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieur des Beaux-Arts in 1901 and was made a chevalier of the L?gion d’Honneur. Peter died in 1918.

Slight ege bump on the obverse at “1 o’clock.” $125. Sorry, SOLD (March, 2022) ——–Pierre Turin was born in 1891. He was a student at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He studied under Henri Auguste Jules Patey and Fr?deric-Charles Victor de Vernon. In 1920 he won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving. Turin died in 1968. He is noted for the strong art deco style of many of his medals.
