Ovide Yencesse was born at Dijon in 1869. He studied under Ponscarme, Thomas and Levillain at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He was director of the ?cole des Beaux-Arts at Dijon. He won gold medals at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1900 and in 1920. He was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur in 1900. His medallic works often achieve a subtle effect using a soft, shallow relief. Yencess3 died in 1947. ?
