Georges Ridet was born in 1906. He was a student at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts at Dijon and later at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rior des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He won a second Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture in 1935. He received a mention in the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1928 and bronze medal in 1931. Ridet died in 1967.

Fran?ois-Paul (Paul) Niclausse was born on May 26 1879 at Metz (then annexed to the German Empire following the Franco-Prussian Wat). He studied at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts de Paris under Ponscarme and Gabriele-Jules Thomas and later joined the faculty as a professor. He was elected as a member of the Acad?mie des Beaux-Arts and became a Soci?taire of the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais, where he received an honorable mention in 1898 and a bronze medal in 1900. Niclausse was eventually made a chevalier de la L?gion d’honneur. He died at Paris on November 1 1958.

He studied under the sculptor, Jouffroy, and Eugene-Andr? Oudin?, the medallist. He won the first prize at the Concours de Rome in 1862. He studied in Italy from 1864 to 1868. Cahplain was elected to the Acad?mie des Beaux-Arts in 1881 and became an officer of the L?gion d’Honneur in 1888.

Raymond Tschudin was born in Champigny-sur-Marne on November 2 1916. He was the son of a medalist and came early to his profession. He studied under Henry Dropsy at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. In 1945 he won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving and studied at the Villa Medicis from 1946 to 1949. He was the creator of a large number of medals, many of which have religious themes. Tschudin died at Provins on November 28 1998

France. MONUMENT TO ADMIRAL COURBET. By Henri Dubois (1859-1943) after Antonin Mercié and Alexandre Falguière. Uniface bronze trail striking with a silvered obverse issued by the Monnaie de Paris. Unrecorded in the Catalogue Général Illustré. $100.

Henri Alfred Auguste Dubois, was the son of noted sculptor and medallist, Alph?e Dubois and grandson of Eug?ne Dubois. He was born in Rome on August 21 1859 while his father was studying at the French Academy in Rome as a winner of the Prix de Rome. He studied under his father, Chapu and Falgui?re. He won the second Grand Prix de Rome in 1878 and in 1883 became a Soci?taire des Artiste Fran?ais. In 1900 he won a silver medal at the Universal Exposition. In 1903 he was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Dubois died in December of 1943.

Maurice Savin was born in 1894. He was primarily a painter and ceramicist , but also created several designs for tapestries and a number of medals . He studied at the ?cole Nationale des Arts D?coratifs. He became a member of la Soci?t? des Peintres et Graveurs. He won the croix de guerre in World War I and was later in his career made a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres and Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Savin died in 1973.

He studied medal engraving under Henri Auguste Jules Patey and Fréderic-Charles Victor de Vernon. He participated several times in the competition for the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving, receiving a deuxième second Grand Prix in 1914, a premier second Grand Prix in 1919 and finally winning the competition in 1920. He had a distinguished career as a medalist and designer of coins.  He is noted for his many works with a bold, Art Deco style, in particular the prize medal from the 1925 Exposition Internationale Des Arts Decoratifs Et Industriels Moderns in Paris. In 1938 he was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur. Turin died on July 25, 1968 in Sucy-en-Brie, where he had been born.

Maurice Delannoy was born on March 11, 1885, in Paris.  He studied at the École Germain Pilon under Charles Valton and Jules Édouard Roiné. He became a professor of drawing and worked as a medallisst and sculptor. He designed coins for Morocco, Monaco and Lebanon, and a considerable number of medals. Delannoy was made a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 1947. He died in Paris on April 26, 1972.

He produced several war memorials following World War I and is noted, among medal collectors, for his medals related to World War I. He was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur in 1927.

Henry Dropsy was born in Paris on January 21, 1885, into a family of sculptors.  He learned his craft under his father Jean-Baptiste Émile Dropsy. He later studied at l’École Supérieure des Beaux Arts. He was a professor of medal engraving at the school for many years. Dropsy became a member of the Institut in 1942 and a member of the Commission Administrative and of the Commission du Dictionaire. He created many medals. A large collection of his work is held at the Monnaie de Paris, which put on a special exhibition of his medals in 1964, the catalogue for which remains a standard reference. His earliest works are in the art nouveau style. His style evolved considerably over his long career. Dropsy died at Veneux-Les-Sablon on November 2, 1969.
