Sorry, SOLD. ———— Raymond Delamarre was born in Paris on June 8 1890. He studied under his father, an engraver, and under Jules Coutan at l’?cole des beaux-arts de Paris. He was also a student of Rodin. He was mobilized in World War I and was wounded and captured in 1914. He returned to Paris following the war and won the first Grand Prize de Rome for Sculpture in 1919. He exhibited at the international expositions of 1925, 1931 and 1937. Delamarre is noted for large scale sculptures, and a bas-relief, Les Arts et Monuments R?gionau on the liner ?Normandie.? He created a large body of medals and plaquettes. Delamarre died on February 28 1986. ——- A biography and discussion of his work are included in RAYMOND DELAMARRE 1890-1896, published in 2007 to coincide with an exhibition of his work.

Sorry, SOLD (April, 2022) ———- Anton Scharff was born in Vienna in 1845. At 15 he entered the Academy of Decorative Arts, where he later studied under David Boehm. He was a very prolific medallist, which is all the more remarkable for someone, who according to Dr. George Frederick Kunz, ?made it a point never to work after noontime.? Scharff was appointed Chief Engraver at the Vienna mint and received numerous awards over the course of his career. He died in 1903.
