Jules-Cl?ment Chaplain was born at Mortagne in 1839. He entered the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1857. He studied under the sculptor, Jouffroy, and Eugene-Andr? Oudin?, the medallist. He won the first prize at the Concours de Rome in 1862. He studied in Italy from 1864 to? 1868. He was elected to the Acad?mie des Beaux-Arts in 1881 and became an officer of the L?gion d’Honneur in 1888. He died in 1909.?

Louis-Alexandre Bott?e was born in Paris in 1852. At the age of 13 he was apprenticed to a button-making manufactory, where he was responsible for engraving dies. He later studied at the ?cole des Art D?coratifs. In 1869 he joined the atelier of Paulin Tasset and in 1871 he joined the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts. He won the Premiere Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1878 and a gold medal at the Salon of 1900. In 1903 he was made an Officier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Bott?e died in 1941.

Pierre-Victor Dautel, French sculptor and medallist was born at Valenciennes in 1873. He studied sculpture and architecture at the ?cole Acad?miques at Valenciennes and later studied sculpture at the ?cole Nationale et Sp?ciale des Beaux Arts at Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Dubois. He won various awards during his distinguished career and was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur in 1929. Dautel died in 1954.

Nearly extremely fine. $135. Sorry, SOLD (March, 2020). —— Ren? Baudichon was born at Tours on March 24 1878. He was a student at the ?cole des Beaux-Art at Tours and later at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts. He studied under Ernest Barries, Fran?ois Sicard, Fr?deric-Charles Victor de Vernon, and Oscar Roty. He was admitted to the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1903, where he won a bronze medal in 1904 for a plaque commissioned by the Chamber of Commence of Blois. He later won a silver medal in1914 and a gold medal in 1921. He designed numerous medallic works, but also worked as a sculptor and caricaturist. Baudichon died in Paris in 1963
