George Dupr?, French sculptor and medalist was born at Saint-?tienne in 1869. He was descended from Augustin Dupr?, a medallist at the time of the French Revolution. He studied under Thomas and Roty. He won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1896. Dupr? suffered from a lifetime of poor health and died in 1909.

François Maurice Thénot was born in 1893. He studied under Patey. He exhibited in the Salon des Artistes and won a bronze medal in 1927 and a silver medal in 1936. His medallic works include a fine series of plaquettes and medals depicting African animals. Thénot died in 1963.

He was later made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Besides medals, he designed a number of coins, including the 1933 5 franc coin and coins for Romania. ?
