Georges Simon was born in Paris in 1906. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieur des Beaux Arts de Paris under Henri Dropsy. He worked with Lavriellier, Gregroire and Bazor. He exhibited at the Salon des Artists Français  where he received a mention in 1936 and a bronze medal in 1939.He was an engraver and later master-engraver at the Paris Mint from 1931-1971. Simon died in 1982.

Ren? Baudichon was born at Tours on March 24, 1878. He was a student at the ?cole des Beaux-Art at Tours and later at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts. He studied under Ernest Barries, Fran?ois Sicard, Fr?deric-Charles Victor de Vernon, and Oscar Roty. He was admitted to the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1903, where he won a bronze medal in 1904 for a plaque commissioned by the Chamber of Commence of Blois. He later won a silver medal in1914 and a gold medal in 1921. He designed numerous medallic works, but also worked as a sculptor and caricaturist. Baudichon died in Paris in 1963

Karl Goetz was born in Augsburg in 1875. He attended the Art School in Augsburg, and later the art schools in Dresden, Leipzig , Berlin and Dusseldorf. He spent five years in Paris and later moved to Munich, where he settled in 1904. Goetz was a prolific medallist, most noted for his satirical works, especially those of World War I. Goetz died in 1950.

Avril Vaughan, one of Britain’s leading medallists, was born in Twickenham in 1937. She won a scholarship to the Twickenham School of Art, where she studied in the 1950s. In the early 1960s she went to work for the designer and goldsmith, David Thomas, There she developed the skills in the cire perdue casting method, in stone cutting and in enamelling. She later freelanced as a jeweler and sculptor. In 1976 Vaughan worked for the Royal Mint and modelled the coinage for Tuvalu after designs by John Donald. She served as senior sculptor at the Franklin Mint U.S.A. for a couple of years, then returned to freelance work, undertaking commissions from the Royal Mint, the Norwegian Mint and the Royal Dutch Mint . She won a Prize at the 1992 FIDEM congress for the best portrait medal. She died in 2008.
