Jean Vezien was born in 1890. He studied at the ??cole des Beaux-Arts de Marseille and later at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. ?He won the first Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1921. He won gold medals in 1931 and at the International Exposition in 1937. He was director of Beaux- Arts de Marseille ?from 1942-1961.
