Adolphe Rivet, sculptor and medallist, was born at Veletz (Corrèze) on July 30 1855. He was a student at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he studied under Jules Cavelier, Hubert Ponscarme and Oscar Roty. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received an honorable mention in 1888 and a second class medal in 1908. He died at Gentilly (Seine) on November 8, 1925
