Pierre-Marie Poisson was born on 19 November 1876 in Niort (Deux-S?vres). He studied at the ?cole des Beaux Arts in Toulouse and later moved to Paris to study sculpture. He received a scholarship for the Villa Abd-el-Tif in Algeria in 1908. He worked primarily as a sculptor and only turned to creating medals later in his career.
