Henry (Henri-Eug?ne) Nocq was born in Saint-Mand? (Val-de-Marne) in 1869. He studied under the sculptor, Henri-Michel-Antoine Chapu. Starting in 1887 he exhibited at the Salon of the Soci?t? des Artistes Fran?ais. He won a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition in 1900. In 1907 he was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. He was interested in and wrote about art theory. Nocq created medals, plaquettes, sculpture and many artistically designed everyday objects. He died in 1944.
