Alphone-Eug?ne Lechevrel was born in Paris in either 1848 or 1850. He studied under H. Fran?ois. He worked as a sculptor in various media, but also designed some stamps. Lechevrel first exhibited at the Salon in 1873 and won a medal in 1884. In 1877 he traveled to England to revive the art of engraving on layered glass. Lechevrel died in Paris in 1924.
