Andr? Lavrillier was born in 1885. He studied under his father, an engraver, and under Chaplain and Bourdelle. He won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1914. He was later made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Besides medals, he designed a number of coins. Lavrillier died in 1958
