Marguerite Lavrilier-Cossaceanu was born on January 4, 1893 in Bucarest. She won a grand prix at the Ecole Superieure des Beaux Arts in Rome. She studied in Paris under Bourdelle and Brancusi. In 1929 she married Andre Lavrillier, the medallist in 1929. She died in Paris on September 22, 1980
