Raymond Joly was born in 1911. He studied sculpture in 1937 and entered the atelier of Henry Dropsy in 1939 at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieur des Beaux-Arts.? He won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1942.
