Georges Dupr? (1869-1909, French sculptor and medalist was born at Saint-?tienne, Loire. He was descended from Augustin Dupr?, a medallist at the time of the French Revolution. He studied under Thomas and Roty. He won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1896. In 1899 he sent his plaquette ?Salut au Soleil? and ? M?ditation? from Rome for display at the Salon, where he was awarded a third-prize medal. Dupr? suffered from a lifetime of poor health and died at an early age in 1909. He was regarded by his contemporaries as one of the leading exponents of medallic art.
