At the age of seventeen he entered l??cole Nationale Sup?rieur des Beaux-Arts. In 1868 he won second prix de Rome for medal engraving and the first Grand Prix de Rome in 1872. He exhibited regularly at the Salon. He was made an officer of the L?gion d?honneur in 1898.
