REV: A father holding up a child and passing it to its mother. $120. Sorry, SOLD (November, 2020).———- Pierre-Marie Poisson was born on 19 November 1876 in Niort (Deux-S?vres). He studied at the ?cole des Beaux Arts in Toulouse and later moved to Paris to study sculpture. He received a scholarship for the Villa Abd-el-Tif in Algeria in 1908. He worked primarily as a sculptor and only turned to creating medals later in his career.

Sorry, SOLD (November, 2020) ———– Jean ?mile Louis de Vernon (known as Jean Vernon) was the son of medallist and sculptor Fr?d?ric-Charles Victor de Vernon. He was born in Paris on April 1, 1897. Vernon studied at the ?cole des Arts D?coratifs and at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, under Jules Coutan and Hippolyte Jules Lef?bvre. He first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1922 and won a silver medal in 1924 and a gold medal in 1936. Vernon worked primarily as a sculptor, but created medals, including his famous series of medals depicting scenes from Jean de la Fontaine’s Fables. He died in Paris on September 9, 1975.

REV: A group of people around an early racing car, people in stands in the background. $225. Sorry, SOLD (December, 2023) ————— Fr?d?ric-Charles Victor de Vernon was born in Paris on 17 November, 1858. He studied under Jules Cavelier, Chaplain and Tasset and, on the urging of Chaplain, took part in the competition for the Grand Prix de Rome in medal engraving. He placed twice before eventually winning in 1887. His works exhibit a strong influence by Roty. In 1900 he won a gold medal at the Universal Exposition and was made a chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Vernon died in 1912.
