He was director of the ?cole des Beaux-Arts at Dijon. He won gold medals at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1900 and in 1920. Yencesse was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur in 1900. Many of his medallic works have a distinctive, subtle effect using a soft, shallow relief.
