France. SPANIEL CLUB FRAN?AIS. By L?on Danchin (1887-1938). Copper galvano 154mm. $200. Sorry, SOLD (April, 2023). ———- L?on Danchin was born on June 21 1887 at Lille. He entered the Coll?ge Jeanne d?Arc at Lille, and later the ?cole des Beaux-Arts de Lille where he studied under Jean Joire, an artist of animals. Starting in 1906, he exhibited at the Salon de Lille, most notably a series of busts of prominent local figures. He was mobilized in 1914 and served in the 351e r?giment d’infanterie,during World War I. He was decorated with the Croix de Guerre. Danchin specialized in painting, sculpting and drawing animals. He died on August 4 1948 at Bergues. —– Delande et Cie. of Paris was a company that manufactured and distributed medals, decorations, flags, and trophies. It was founded in the late 19th century and closed its doors in the 1980s. It had customers throughout the world and produced military decorations and uniform ornamentations for several governments. The Delande family broke up the business?s archives around 2010.

She studied at the conservatory in Dijon, then moved to the town?s ?cole des Beaux Arts, where she studied under Ovide Yencesse. She was accepted into the l??cole Nationale Sup?rieur des Beaux-Arts at Paris, where she studied engraving under Patey and Dammann and sculpture under Sicard and Bouchard. She won the first Grand Prix de Rome in 1929. Guzman-Nagotte died in 1978.

1972, France. GRAND PRIX DU PORTO (Crosswords). By Raymond Delamarre (1890-1986). Bronze 79mm. $175. —————- Raymond Delamarre was born in Paris on June 8 1890. He studied under his father, an engraver, and under Jules Coutan at l’?cole des beaux-arts de Paris. He was also a student of Rodin. He was mobilized in World War I and was wounded and captured in 1914. He returned to Paris following the war and won the first Grand Prize de Rome for Sculpture in 1919. He exhibited at the international expositions of 1925, 1931 and 1937. Delamarre is noted for large scale sculptures, and a bas-relief, Les Arts et Monuments R?gionau on the liner ?Normandie.? He created a large body of medals and plaquettes. Delamarre died on February 28, 1986.

Sorry, SOLD (May, 2022) ———— Paul-Marcel Dammann, sculptor and medallist was born on June 13 1885 at Montgerm. He studied under Chaplain. In 1908 he won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving. In 1928 he won a medal of honor at the Salon and was made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur in the following year. He designed a number of coins for foreign governments. Dammann died in 1939.
