Pierre Turin was born in Sucy-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne) on 3 August, 1891. He trained as a steel engraver and became a student at the École Nationale Supèrieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Auguste Jules Patey and Fréderic-Charles Victor de Vernon. He participated several times in the competition for the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving, receiving a deuxième second Grand Prix in 1914, a premier second Grand Prix in 1919 and finally winning the competition in 1920. He had a distinguished career as a medalist and designer of coins.  He is noted for his many works with a bold, Art Deco style, in particular the prize medal from the 1925 Exposition Internationale Des Arts Decoratifs Et Industriels Moderns in Paris. In 1938 he was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur. Turin died on July 25, 1968 in Sucy-en-Brie, where he had been born.

Georges Simon was born in Paris in 1906. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieur des Beaux Arts de Paris under Henri Dropsy. He worked with Lavriellier, Gregroire and Bazor. He exhibited at the Salon des Artists Français where he received a mention in 1936 and a bronze medal in 1939. He was an engraver and later master-engraver at the Paris Mint from 1931-1971. Simon died in 1982.

Tony Antoine Szirma? medallist and sculptor was born in Hungary in 1871. He entered the Budapest School of Decorative Arts, and later studied under Prof. Eberle at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. He moved to Italy, where he studied under Prof. Kopf for two years at the Palazzo Venezia in Rome. In 1892 he- went to Paris and entered the studio of the Master Ernest Barrias. Szirma? died in 1938.

Delande et Cie. of Paris was a company that manufactured and distributed medals, decorations, flags, and trophies. In was founded in the late 19th century and closed its doors in the 1980s. It had customers throughout the world and produced military decorations and uniform ornamentations for several governments. The Delande family broke up the business?s archives around 2010.————- Adolphe Rivet, sculptor and medallist, was born at Varetz (Corr?ze) on July 30 1855. He was a student at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts, where he studied under Jules Cavelier, Hubert Ponscarme and Oscar Roty. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais, where he received an honorable mention in 1888 and a second class medal in 1908. He died at Gentilly (Seine) on November 8 1925

Julien Auguste Philiberet Lorieux, sculptor, was born in Paris on December 31, 1876. He studied under Falgi?re, Merci?, and Prinet. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais where he received honorable mentions in 1897 and 1900 and medals in 1901 and 1902. He became a member in 1899. Lorieux died at Toul on April 30, 1915.

François Maurice Thénot was born in 1893. He studied under Patey. He exhibited in the Salon des Artistes and won a bronze medal in 1927 and a silver medal in 1936. His medallic works include a fine series of plaquettes and medals depicting African animals. Thénot died in 1963.
