Rev: A seated and a standing female looking out over a small town and countryside. Extremely fine. $250. Sorry, SOLD ? Louis Oscar Roty was born at Paris in 1846. He studied at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts under Dumont and Ponscarme. He won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1875.? He took the grand prize at the International Exposition in 1889. In 1888 he was elected to the Acad?mie des Beaux-Arts. Roty died in 1911. He was a commander of the L?gion d?Honneur. He was one of the premier French medallists of his period. In particular he is noted for reintroducing the plaquette as an art form that had been neglected since the Renaissance.

He attended the Art School in Augsburg, and later the art schools in Dresden, Leipzig , Berlin and Dusseldorf. He spent five years in Paris and later moved to Munich, where he settled in 1904. Goetz was a prolific medallist, most noted for his satirical works, especially those of World War I. Goetz died in 1950.

Anie Mouroux, sculptor and medalist was born at Paris in 1887. She studied at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. She was the first female contender for the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving. She won the Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1919. She won a gold medal at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts and a silver medal at the Salon de Artistes Fran?ais. Mouroux died in 1978.
