Pierre-Victor Dautel, French sculptor and medallist was born at Valenciennes in 1873. He studied sculpture and architecture at the ?cole Acad?miques at Valenciennes and later studied sculpture at the ?cole Nationale et Sp?ciale des Beaux Arts at Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Dubois. He won various awards during his distinguished career and was made a Chevalier of the L?gion d?Honneur in 1929. Dautel died in 1954.

Undated (circa 1900), France. ART AWARD. By Ren? Baudichon. Silver 50mm. OBV: An allegorical female standing behind an artist seated at an easel. REV: A wreath, palette and implements. Nearly extremely fine. $135. Sorry, SOLD (March, 2020). —— Ren? Baudichon was born at Tours on March 24 1878. He was a student at the ?cole des Beaux-Art at Tours and later at the ?cole Nationale Sup?rieure des Beaux Arts. He studied under Ernest Barries, Fran?ois Sicard, Fr?deric-Charles Victor de Vernon, and Oscar Roty. He was admitted to the Salon des Artistes Fran?ais in 1903, where he won a bronze medal in 1904 for a plaque commissioned by the Chamber of Commence of Blois. He later won a silver medal in1914 and a gold medal in 1921. He designed numerous medallic works, but also worked as a sculptor and caricaturist. Baudichon died in Paris in 1963
