Niggl 1954. $125. Sorry, SOLD (September, 2023) ———— Anton Scharff was born in Vienna in 1845. At 15 he entered the Academy of Decorative Arts, where he later studied under David Boehm. He was a very prolific medallist, which is all the more remarkable for someone, who according to Dr. George Frederick Kunz, ?made it a point never to work after noontime.? Scharff was appointed Chief Engraver at the Vienna mint and received numerous awards over the course of his career. He died in 1903.
