He studied under his father, Charles, an engraver, and later under Chaplain and Bourdelle at the ?cole des Beaux Arts. He won the Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1914. He was later made a Chevalier de la L?gion d?Honneur. Besides medals, he designed a number of coins, including the 1933 5 franc coin and coins for Romania. Lavrillier died in1958.
